Committed to Sustainability - Brinkman Partners host LEED AP training for 12 employees

LEED Professional Accreditation distinguishes building professionals with the knowledge and skills to successfully steward the LEED certification process. LEED Accredited Professionals (LEED APs) are designated when they have demonstrated a thorough understanding of green building practices and principles and the LEED rating system.

“Brinkman Partners is excited to provide training for green building practices” comments Paul Brinkman, President and CEO of Brinkman Partners. “We understand that sustainability is important for future generations and our goal is to be at the forefront of the movement” said Brinkman.

LEED is administered through the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), a non-profit organization committed to expanding sustainable building practices. USGBC is composed of more than 15,000 organizations from across the building industry that are working to advance structures that are environmentally responsible, profitable, and healthy places to live and work.

One of Brinkman Partners’ LEED certification-pending projects is the recently completed 55,000 square-foot, 5-story class ‘A’ office building located on the southwest corner of Ziegler and Harmony. “The Harmony One design and construction team put a lot of effort into implementing green initiatives into the building” comments Jim Ciesla, Vice President of Preconstruction at Brinkman Construction. Ciesla adds “It’s great to work with like-minded people who are working towards the same goals.”

The Harmony One team implemented many sustainability strategies including sustainable sites (proximity to public transportation, bicycle storage, changing rooms and showers, preferred parking for low emitting and fuel efficient vehicles, highly reflective roofing, storm water quality), water efficiency (water efficient landscaping, low and no flow fixtures), energy and atmosphere (commissioning, green power), material and resources (construction recycling, recycled content, FSC certified wood), and indoor air quality (construction indoor air quality plan, low emitting materials, monitoring of systems).

By early 2009, Brinkman Partners will have ten LEED AP team members as resources to support their integrated services.
